Ocean-inspired artwork, soft, ambient lighting and traditional bistro interiors are the setting for one of Argentina’s best-loved seafood restaurants. Opened by Emilio Garip and his wife Cristina in 1986, Oviedo is a classic Buenos Aires establishment with a heavily Spanish-influenced menu. Take note of the outstanding wine list; the cellar houses over 18,000 bottles, including French stars from Château Latour and a number of class Argentinian vintages from Catena Zapata, Rutini and Cobos.

In the kitchen, seasoned chef Ramón Chiliguay produces a Mediterranean cuisine that pairs modern presentation with classic flavours. Expect appetisers of red tuna tiradito and Provençal mussels, while stand-out mains include trout fillet over carrot purée with charred endive, sea bream with black olive gnocchi, and a prawn ragout tagliatelle doused in a basil vinaigrette.
