The latest from the Mr Lyan team behind the award-winning Lyaness, Seed Library takes a new, back-to-basics approach. Located in the basement of the One Hundred Shoreditch hotel, the space has been created to be as comfortable as possible, with soothing, warm tones that takes more than a little inspiration from the 1970s. Like everything else here, drinks emphasise “the maker’s touch”, and the selection changes frequently. Cocktails, unsurprisingly, are a highlight, with inventive offerings such as the Purple Shiso Martini, made with vodka, dry vermouth and Mark’s Purple shiso leaf, and there are non-alcoholic options too. Bar food is worth a look too – think chicken fat popcorn or crispy lamb sweetbreads. In keeping with Seed Library’s analog approach, there’s a wood-panelled DJ booth where music is played on vinyl records.
