William is the Director of Content for The World's 50 Best Restaurants and The World's 50 Best Bars. He has been a journalist and editor for two decades, spanning business-to-business and consumer magazines, as well as national newspapers. He is a former editor of style magazine Arena and continues to write and comment on food and restaurants in the UK and international media. He is privileged to have eaten in a healthy proportion of The World's 50 Best Restaurants, though the experience hasn’t been so healthy for his waistline.
Emma joined the 50 Best team in 2023 as Head of Content for Bars and Hotels, based in the UK. She has extensive experience as a journalist, editor and content consultant, including as head of food & drink content at Marks & Spencer for eight years leading its food photography, social media, content partnerships and editorial creative. A recipe developer and writer, she is also a cocktail aficionado, trained sommelier, Associate of Cheese and runs marathons around the world raising money as a trustee for education charity Bright Sparks that provides free education to some of India’s poorest children.
Josh joined the 50 Best Team in August 2022 to help with content creation for the 50 Best website and events, with a focus on the bars brands and 50 Best Discovery. Prior to joining 50 Best, he worked at Insider on lifestyle content and gained experience at food magazines while studying for an MA in Magazine Journalism at Cardiff University. Food, drink and travel have always been his major passions, and he spends most of his time in his kitchen or eating his way around cities.
Giulia worked as 50 Best's Content Editor, joining the team in 2017 after studying communications in Italy, Spain and the UK, and starting her editorial career writing hotel reviews in London. Within her role as Content Editor, she looked after the suite of 50 Best websites, contributes to the creation of content across 50 Best's digital platforms, and managing the liaison with chefs around the world before moving onto a new role in 2022.
Laura worked as Deputy Editor for The World’s 50 Best Restaurants and The World’s 50 Best Bars from 2014 to 2019 and is now a Contributing Editor to 50 Best. She writes about food, travel and lifestyle for a variety of publications, including National Geographic Traveller, Condé Nast Traveller and Time Out. She has lived in Brazil, Argentina, Mexico and Ireland and is a qualified Portuguese and Spanish translator.

She contributes to Decanter, Monocle, Condé Nast Traveller and Traveler, American Way, Fodor's, Good Beer Hunting and Lugares in Spanish among others, and she penned Mil – the latest book from celebrated Peruvian chefs Virgilio Martínez and Pía León. Born and raised in Chicago, Allie is a freelance eater and writer based in Argentina. She covers the Buenos Aires culinary scene as the Food & Drink editor of Time Out Magazine and on her blog Pick Up the Fork. Her eating and drinking skills have been featured in publications like Rolling Stone, Bon Appétit, New York Magazine, Vice, Eater, BBC Travel, La Nacion, and The Travel Channel. She is an ex-vegetarian who loves chorizo.

Cristina Jolonch is a journalist with more than 25 years’ experience writing for La Vanguardia, one of Spain’s biggest newspapers. She has travelled extensively in Spain and internationally as a writer and editor, and recently co-directed Snacks: Bite for a Revolution, a documentary film about about the gastronomic revolution that took place in Spain. She is 50 Best's Academy Chair for Spain and Portugal.
Max Veenhuyzen is a food, drink and travel journalist and photographer based in Perth, Western Australia. A frequent traveller and food researcher with more than 20 years experience in the field, she has worked in Michelin-starred restaurants, cooked for celebrities, interviewed most of the best international chefs, and has published work in 12 countries. Luciana is a member of the Guild of Food Writers UK, a writer of the Identità Golose Food Guide, and one of the authors of APICIUS.
Ishay Govender-Ypma is an award-winning freelance food and travel journalist who wisely abandoned a career in commercial law in the pursuit of cultural immersion and air miles. Now she wanders the earth gathering stories, ingredients and second-hand books that threaten to take over her house. Home is Cape Town, for a weeks at a stretch.
Clinton has been writing about drinks since landing in the UK in 2006 from his native South Africa, where he’d already put in more than a few hours on both sides of the bar. He now covers all aspects of the trade for a number of publications, with a particular interest in the hospitality industry, as well as spirits and cocktails. He's partial to all things agave, and dependent on good coffee.
