The first stateside bar from star British 'tender Ryan Chetiyawardana, Silver Lyan promises the same transportive atmosphere and inventive cocktail traditions established at Mr. Lyan's European bars Super Lyan, Lyaness, Dandelyan, White Lyan and Cub. Located in a former bank vault at the Riggs hotel, the interior design envelopes guests within an intimate and brooding medley of lush crimson velvet, exposed concrete, shimmering mirrors, original tin ceilings and geometric lines. Chetiyawardana's signature high-low playfulness abounds through the avant-garde drinks list, which naturally also leans into forward-thinking sustainability initiatives; local produce is tapped for seasonal concoctions to strengthen ties with the local farming community, for example. As an exploration of the cultural exchanges that have historically taken place in The District, it's a thought-provoking and memorable drinking experience.
